Locations provide a marker where work needs to be carried out. For projects with drawings, locations are represented by pins on a drawing. Projects being run without drawings can use location reference and attributes to provide descriptive fields to be filled out with location details.

Create a location with drawings (drop a pin)

How to drop a pin to create a location for projects with drawings:

  1. Open the project where you want to add pin locations.

  2. Ensure Site Manager is correctly set up:

    • Blocks, levels, and zones are configured.

    • Drawings are uploaded to the correct levels.

  3. Go to the Drawings tab.

    • Use Block and Level filters to find the drawing you need.

  4. Select the drawing, then click Create on the right-hand side.

  5. At the top of the drawing, you can:

    • Switch between drawings on different blocks/levels.

    • Choose from multiple versions of the same drawing.

    • Search for a location.

    • Filter existing pins by status, operative, form, material, specification, zone, core, or date dropped.

  6. Use the toolbar on the left to:

    • Zoom in for precise pin placement.

    • Switch to grayscale for better visibility on busy drawings.

    • Adjust pin size (large or small).

  7. Choose a status for the pin.

  8. (Optional) Add a specification.

  9. Click the pin icon and place the pin on the drawing.

  10. To move a pin, simply drag and drop it to the correct spot.

πŸ’‘ Top tip: To drop one pin after the other without clicking the pin icon, use ctrl/cmd + D to drop pins faster.

Create a location without drawings (location reference and attributes)

How to create a location with location reference and attributes:

  1. Open the project you would like to add locations to.

  2. Click Project Setup (top right of the screen).

  3. From the dropdown, select Locations.

  4. Enable and configure:

    • Location Reference – The main identifier for each location (e.g. door number or room code).

    • Location Attributes – Extra fields to capture details needed for operatives to find the location on site. You can choose from several attribute types:

      • Text (small or large) - Could be used to describe the block, level or zone the work is taking place in

      • Number – Ideal for numeric values like room numbers.

      • Yes/No – For questions or confirmations.

      • Select – Single-choice dropdown (enforces one option).

      • Multi-select – Allows multiple options to be selected when on site.

  5. Once your project is set up, head to the Locations tab back in the main project page.

  6. Click the Add Location button on the right-hand side of the screen.

  7. A modal will appear:

    • Select the status of the location

    • The location reference

    • Specification if applicable

    • If the location is a variation

    • Further details setup within your location attributes

  8. Click the Add Location button to save it to your project. Your operatives will now be able to select it as a location within the mobile app.
