Learn how to create a project template, build one and save a project as a template using the Project Template tab.

Onetrace enables you to create project templates and store them within your library. By creating templates in the Library tab, any new projects you create can be pre-populated with with job forms, materials, locations, custom attributes, approvals and folders saving you from adding these from scratch every time you start a new project.

Pre-populating project templates will provide you the following benefits:

  • Enhancing consistency across projects due to standardised templates.

  • Ability to quickly create new projects and start working faster

  • Improved organisation for easier project oversight.

  • Foundation for scaling workflows as your business picks up more work.

This guide provides guidance on how to:


Steps To Add Project Templates Using Your Library

1. Log into your account at app.onetrace.com

2. Choose the Library tab using the left navigation bar.

3. Click the Project Templates tab.

4. Click the + Add Template button.

5. Add a name for your new template.

6. Click the Add Template button.


Start Building Your Project Template

Click the Project Template you just created to start building it. The template can be fully customised to the requirements of your business or projects to best suit your individual needs.

☝️ The ability to customise will enable you to create unique and optimised project templates for all your future work.

Once you have added a new template, you can further customise it by adding the following details to your project templates:

1. Details

You can customise your project templates' basic information using the Details tab.

2. Forms

Select the Forms to be used with this template or remove them when no longer needed.

3. Jobs

Manage your preferences for Jobs, add custom attributes and manage preferences for creating a new location or selecting an existing one.

4. Locations

Define the Location options according to your project specifications.

5. Specifications

The Specifications tab lets you manage your preferences for specifications and custom attributes.

6. Materials & Rates

Select the Materials and default rate sets you want within a specific project template.

7. Approval

Add stages to start using approvals. Manage bulk actions and choose which forms to enable approvals for.

8. Folders

Add Folders for enhanced project management and keep all project-specific documentation within your specific project template.


Steps To Save a Project as a Template

1. Log into your account at app.onetrace.com

2. Choose the Project you wish to save as a template.

3. Click the three dots and select Save as Template from the drop-down menu.

4. Add the name of the Template in the blank column.

5. Click the Add Template button.
