Onetrace now includes an organisation setting that restricts operatives to the live camera when adding photos to job sheets. When it's switched on, the photo picker in the mobile app only offers the option to use the camera in the Onetrace app—the Upload from gallery option is removed.
Admins manage this feature in settings and it applies across the whole organisation.
Genuine site presence: photos can only be captured in the moment, so you can trust they were taken on site.
No reused or shared photos: ensure old photos can't be reused, or images passed between job sheets.
💡 This is an organisation-wide setting for now. You can't yet apply it to specific projects, forms, or fields. Turning it on affects every operative, on every project, immediately.
Configure live-only photo capture
Turn this on before rolling it out to your team, since photo capture changes for the whole organisation as soon as it's enabled.
How to turn on live-only photo capture
Go to Settings in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.
Head to Photo Capture
Toggle on Enable live capture only
Confirm your choice in the dialog that appears. It explains what's about to change for operatives before the setting takes effect—read it carefully, since it applies straight away.
What operatives see on mobile
When adding a photo to a job sheet, operatives now only see Take photo. Upload from gallery is no longer available.
If an operative tries to access their photo gallery, an in-app message explains why it's not available.
Admins on the web app
Admins can still upload photos from their device gallery when using Onetrace on the web—this setting only changes what operatives see in the mobile app.
Live-only photo FAQs
What does it restrict? Operatives can only take a live photo with the camera. Uploading from their device gallery is switched off.
Can I apply it to just one project or form? Not yet. Phase 1 is an organisation-wide setting only; per-project and per-form control is a future phase.
Does this affect admins? No. Admins can still upload from a gallery on the web app. Only the mobile photo picker for operatives changes.
Will operatives know why? Yes. An in-app message explains gallery access is off when they try to use it.
